Collect emergency test results as dated records, alert on failures, and keep the history for audits. Check that the gateway exposes the results.
Why Monitor Emergency Lighting
Emergency luminaires must work when the mains fails, and regular testing proves it. Manual testing is slow and easy to miss. DALI emergency control gear (IEC 62386 part 202) can run function and duration tests automatically and report the outcome.
What Can Be Reported
Typical results are the status of the last function test, the last duration test, battery state and lamp or driver faults. The exact set depends on the emergency gear and on what the DALI gateway or controller exposes, so confirm both before relying on it.
Records and Alerts
Store each result with the luminaire address, location and time, so an audit shows when each unit was last tested and what happened. Alert when a test fails or when a unit has not reported a result for longer than the test schedule allows, because silence is also a failure.
Staying Within the Controller
Tests are scheduled and run by the emergency lighting controller or the DALI application controller. IoTServa reads the results and does not start or stop tests unless that is enabled and agreed for the site.
Check the Local Rules
Test intervals and record keeping are set by local regulation and the building's fire safety plan. This page describes how data can be collected and does not replace those requirements.
Common Questions
Can IoTServa replace my emergency lighting test system?
No. The emergency or DALI controller keeps running the tests. IoTServa collects the reported results, keeps dated records and raises alerts.
Does every DALI luminaire report emergency test results?
No. Only DALI emergency control gear that supports the test features, and only if the gateway exposes them. Confirm per product.
